Sixteen browser distrust events have occurred across the ecosystem, with 14 driven by compliance and operational failures rather than cryptographic compromise. Ten events followed a pattern of repeated issues, and seven involved negligent noncompliance posture rather than willful circumvention or simple accident. The median runway from distrust announcement to enforcement sits at 1,185 days, reflecting browsers' caution about disrupting certificate subscribers while still removing persistently non-compliant operators.
